ABOUT MY WORK
"My visual language is tactile,
expressive and intuitive.
Duality in people and their environment is a lasting source of wonder and inspiration."
Eugenie Ligthart / e.m.ligthart@outlook.com
In my work various drawing and painting disciplines intermingle. I combine pen, ink and watercolor on coarsely prepared linen or cotton. Then again I add threads, fabric and stitching and use different types of paint together. The link with the landscape tapestry from my earlier work 'Landscapes in Wool' is never far away.
In addition to mixed media, I like to get my hands in the clay. Both baking the statues and casting them in cement is a wonderful adventure with the risk of breakage and loss of the statue. However, that is an indispensable part of my work process.
It makes concentration while working more intense and each image unique.
